Internet Time & DST Information

Internet Time

This option allows the user to obatin the current time from an Internet source. This method does not rely on the time on the handset being accurate, however it does require an reliable Internet connection.

In order to obtain the correct time for your location, this method uses the time zone information from your handset, so you must ensure your time zone setting is correct to ensure an accurate time.

The app uses two sources for Internet time depending on the setting selected from the main page. The default source (from v5.5.0) is timezonedb.com. This was changed in v5.5.0 in order to overcome latency issues experienced by some users when using worldtimeapi.org as the sole Internet time source. worldtimeapi.org can still be used by selecting the option from the main page.

You are reminded that it is your responsibility to check the accuracy of every time source you use, do not just assume it is right.

DST Settings

The DST function of the app can be used to take into account clock changes in relation to daylight savings. Caution is advised as it is not always known how the DVR reacted to this clock change.

If you do your calculations using the date function, DST will automatically be taken into account, as will leap years. Again, caution is advised as above.
